Hello!

I’m Beth McCarthy, owner of Joyful Wellness, a holistic health coaching company.

As a certified Yoga Therapist, wellness chef, and healthy lifestyle coach, I believe everyone can reach their highest potential for optimal well-being at every level: Body, mind, and spirit.

I believe this because I’ve not only seen it happen with my clients, but I first experienced it myself.

My dearest health companion — spanning more than 20 years — has been yoga. From my first class as a young woman raising four children, I fell in love with this ancient system of self-care. Within a short period, I noticed impressive benefits.

  • My back pain brought on due to multiple pregnancies diminished
  • My body became stronger and free
  • My energy and sense of vitality increased
  • Most noticeably, I began to experience a heightened level of happiness, as well as renewed confidence and calm

In the fall of 2012, when a breast cancer diagnosis flipped my world upside down, I turned to yoga as the primary therapeutic partner to my healing process. During the month prior to surgery, I used yoga to strengthen and prepare my body and mind. After surgery, I created a personal Yoga Therapy program that paved my path to swift healing and recovery.

Now more than six years later, I consider my diagnosis a gift. It’s not only allowed me to assist dozens of women move through their cancer journey with courage and strength, but it’s opened me to making self-care and wellness my number one focus. It’s also allowed me to share what I’ve learned about self-care through my Awakening Joy for Women workshops. I’ve become even more passionate about working with any woman who is tired of feeling run down, stressed, and disconnected from themselves and their true life purpose.

Of course, my diagnosis gifted me in another way — it expanded my personal and professional practice from primarily yoga to learning about nutrition and wholesome, organic-based cooking. After working in the field of Yoga Therapy for more than 15 years serving hundreds of clients, I made the decision to “go back to school” in the spirit of supporting my clients’ well-being at the deepest level possible — through food as medicine.

What all of this means for you is that I want to help you transform your health challenges at a deeply integrative level.

May I have the courage today to live the life that I would love, to postpone my dreams no longer, but do at last what I came here for and waste my heart on fear no more.

—John O’Donohue
